The Importance of Bimametic Principles in Restorative Design
Bimametics is really emulating nature. We're replacing nature in an aesthetic sense with modern ceramics and modern composite resins, absolutely. But we're not really replacing nature in a functional sense because neither ceramic nor composite resin has similar qualities to enamel or dentine. I don't think we're ever going to become biomimetic dentists until we have the ability to grow enamel and grow dentine in a test tube.
