The Licencing Slope Dilemma

A shelling fence is an arbitrary threshold, a line that you draw on a slippery slope to keep yourself from sliding down the slope all the way. People are so invested in seeing themselves as morally non-criticizable because they feel like their authority and moral character is being challenged. If we can accommodate ourselves to accepting moral criticism without thinking without going too far toward despair with it or feeling too bad about it then I think that's a tool that can help us not need a fence. The thing that's attractive about super irrigation? You can avoid saying, ah, I'm morally flawless; I might not be morally ideal because I'm not doing all the good things, right? Right.
