What Is the Point of Classics and Why Is It So Important?

The classics is something that used to be taught in most schools, possibly all schools. For me, learning about the classics is almost like learning about education itself. It really fosters a love of wanting to learn at a higher level. And i think anybody who wants to go to the university, for example, a should be interested in classics, right? and so you are currently working as an english teacher. I'm kind of curious about the links between latin and English.
