What Is the Vertical Latitude Line?

The grant that Charles II gave to William Penn was to was all the space in North America between two longitude lines, or latitude lines. The Appalachian Mountains become the first sort of bottleneck of the North American colonial experience. As people keep coming to North America and population locally keeps growing, it grows very fast in New England. And eventually that builds up enough energy to push past these boundaries, these national boundaries.
