The Old Testament Jew Is Confronted With Old Testament Forms

The Old Testament Jew lived within a substantial covenant of works adjusted to land blessings. Yet such a covenant was filled with types that formally anticipated new covenant realities to come. Types defined absent all vertical sacramental symbolism and communication in themselves by the power of the Holy Spirit, the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. So an Old Testament Jew is confronted by these Old Testament forms that merely bear formal correspondence to new covenant things to come. And somehow his mind is triggered by those forms to reflect on the doppelgangers to come. He has enough reflection or apprehension of those other things in order to glean sufficient gospel information that by faith he saved. That to me is a very different understanding than
