The Design of the US Constitution

The Constitution is best understood and I'm not original in thinking this. The Constitution is a means to end. Sometimes we think of the Constitution primarily as a legal code, as a set of legal arrangements that don't exist for an end beyond themselves. If it turns out that those offices don't work, if they don't bring about those ends, the ends are more important than the means. That's the broad perspective. What this means for getting back to demagoguery in office is a couple of different things.
