The Marianas - The First of the Pacific Islands to Be Colonized by People
The marianas were the first of the remote pacific islands to be colonized by people. The radio carbon dates associated with their arrival cluster right around 15 hundred b c, which is really early. A study analyzed ancient diana from guam found that the colonizing population on clustered most closely with people living today in the philippines and with indigenous people from tian. We'll pick up next week with a remarkable expansion of what archeologists call the lapeda tradition, the first people to cross the open pacific to remote oceania.
