The Importance of a Pause in AI Development
I think there are so many positive applications of AI, it would be unnecessary to pause then. But the way we need to think about this is the way we thought about nuclear weapons. Once everyone recognizes that everybody is in danger, then it doesn't matter that much if you're aligned with one country's philosophy or another. I feel like we have a moral obligation to speak about this and to encourage them to do so. Whether they do it, I don't know. We want to make sure that things end up well for our children and our descendants.
