The Medicalization of Censorship and Student Anxiety
Nico: Students started coming in to campus not just arguing for new restrictions on free speech, but they were arguing these medicalized rationales. He says part of me thinks that the medicalization of censorship and the concern over emotional labor has some tie-ins here with student anxiety. Nico: If there's an idea that campus itself has to deal with anything that could potentially be traumatic or merely even anxiety producing, they have to deal with that. That has serious free speech implications, which is what led to coddling the American mind.
