What Are Denominations of Christianity?
Denominations literally means to name or out of the name. When it was not over a secondary issue, like how to practice baptism, many times denominations arose because the conservative branch of the church could not in good conscience remain in fellowship with the liberal branch. More often than not, the split happened over a core doctrine or simply because two churches decided to practice a secondary issue differently.
