How to Address the Abilityism in Agatha Christie's Text
There is another approach you can take if you're uncomfortable with the ableism in Agatha Christie's text. Is that when they sell those rights for screen adaptations that they include clauses that say disabled characters must be played by actors with same disability as the characters. And then once you start opening up sets, once sets are accessible to disabled people, then it opens up a world of possibilities for people who are disabled to be involved in the adaptations. I've had a very positive experience of how the Agatha Christie limited in terms of their sort of commitment to it. They don't want anyone to be offended or upset by it. They just want people to feel that Agatha is for them.
