The Pulse of Death
There's a great poignancy in age given to death sometimes by the notion that you will be reunited with the dead one. In many poetic treatments of death, such as allergies, there isn't a conviction of an afterlife. I think that a doubt about whether there's an afterlife is stronger again than faith. The poem tells how my pulse, like a soft drum, beats my approach, tells the icon.
