Is String Theory the Unique Theory of Quantum Gravity?

Some people are trying to mathematically prove that string theory is the unique theory of quantum gravity. But would physics really be content with that? Or would they want more experiment? And mostly, can you just explain that? Yeah, so the idea that is that, is that, it goes back to what I said earlier about these two pillars of 20th century physics, quantum mechanics and relativity. If you demand something called weak coupling so that no sort of things don't push and pull on each other too hard, then there's a very natural way that from general relativity, respecting these rules, you very naturally go to kind of string theory.
