i agree with you that strauss had only the highest regard for machiavelli at the end of his analysis of him. And i would say that there is a similarity here with nita, because sometimes nitya is considered to be somebody that strauss denegrates or criticises. But i agree very much with you that the orthodox strausian view is still, somehow, for all its merits, too much treatingMachiavelli as a figure in this big history of decline. I see him as one of the peaks in the great mountain range of political philosophyys.
