I'm traveling this new series called Unconventional where I get people such as yourself who are doing career paths that I wouldn't say are alternative. What's special about me? Well the thing that made you approach me was my uni degree. So I do a degree in forensic mortuary. When someone dies I will perform an autopsy and figure out how they died essentially. There's 18 of us currently but I don't think that everyone actually will go into the field of forensic mortuary technician. It's definitely not unconventional. A lot of people just want to do it maybe it's like a stepping stone into other kind of medical things.
We are joined this week by Laura, a student mortuary technician in Australia to discuss her experiences and role and how she thinks about death and the meaning of a good life on this special guest episode.
