Relational Support - Sidestep the Specific Question
If someone asks you a question, acknowledge that they're processing it. You could say i haven't really thought about tha question enough to give an answer,. But i'd be interested to hear about your thoughts. What are you thinking? This can be a relationally satisfying response. Another skill that you can use if you want to show relational support is to make a general statement that you do believe is true.
