The Roman Empire in the Middle East
Around 475 AD, the Roman Empire in the West collapses and it's replaced by various what you would call barbarian states. The Romans have been Christian for a long time, and the new barbarian states, they're quite quickly converted. And then in 632, that's when everything changes because the Arabs come bursting onto the scene at an incredibly short period. They overrun the Roman Middle East, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, in no time at all. Later on with the Mongols is this very rapid process of fragmentation between Christians and Muslims.
