The founding fathers got right, that both education and the fourth estate were prerequisite institutions for something like a democracy or republic to function. But if you emphasize anything other than the comprehensive educate of the citizens, it won't stay being a democracy for very long. So what does the future of an open society look like? What does it have to look like in terms of the shared values of the people that they would invest in education and have the civic virtue to invest in their role in governance?
