"No matter how much I dialed up and down my own blackness, there was something about me inside that didn't feel at home in this skin," he says. "I've been in spaces before where there are no white people, but it's always temporary." A few years ago, the actor went to a place called Tagai Tai City with his mother's brother who is from the Philippines. There were no white people; all of them looked exactly like him.
