President johnson launched head start, a government funded pree school programme for America's poorest children. The original head a programme was only an eight weeks summer programme. To day, over 50 years after it was launched, headstar offers services for the full school year. And studies show that children who go through the programme have a higher probability of finishing high school and a higher probability to go to college.
