The Japanese Invasion of Kyushu
The Japanese were determined to fight to the bitter, bitter end. Part of that was a kind of a strange death wish, I mean, almost a suicidal thing that they went through. But part of it was not crazy because they hoped the Japanese military ran the show. There's some view of, well, we should have said, okay, before we drop the bomb, you can keep the emperor. The emperor was a tool of the military and the military wanted to fight.
