The Importance of Social Fitness

I think partly because of this idea that we choose our friends that friendships are particularly prone to distancing. We figure that they're going to work and we don't have to sort of lean in and put energy into them. I find that if I'm not active, really active every week in doing things with people who I want to keep current with, it'll wither away. It's harder and harder to do that with these devices that pull us away from those things that are critical for us. And so what I've had to do is be much more intentional about scheduling walks with people or dinners out.
