Back in 20 16, richard denataly, doctor denetaly, was the leader of the greens. He pushed for a 20 % tax on sugary drinks with revenue to be re invested in health. There was this massive pushback led by the sugar industry which is evil. But there is a genuine social and economic critique of sugar taxes. It their regressive taxes. They place a disproportionate burden on victims of an economic system that incentivizes the production of cheap process food and unequal distribution of healthy food.
