Is There a Gnastic Response in Plants?
Gnastic movements are not oriented in the direction of a stimulus, but rather are fixed reflexes that are determined by the plant's anatomy. A venus fly trap shows a gnastic response: when it senses movement in its trap area, the hinge closes. Another example this would be trees seem to grow around power lines. So plants can grow in different directions, responding to objects or or stimuli in their environments.
