The number of homeless people in America has increased for the last four consecutive years, as we saw with chico. Climate change will only increase the number of desperate people sleeping rough. As protests against police violence continue to go viral, local elites will increasingly contract out for their violence. The wealthy will use their money and power to try and build islands of security within endangered communities. We've seen time and time again that these local alites tend to use the police as a cudgel to beat down any marginalized people who disrupt the look or profitability they care about.
