Henry Lawrence and the Slavery of Africans
The slave trade itself is an act of barbarism, Clay Lawrence says. He was captured off the coast of Newfoundland by a British frigate and thrown into the Tower of London. Henry Lawrence has several children, but the apple of his eyes is his son, John Lawrence. The younger Lawrence is a strong advocate of the view that the American Revolution must also be a revolution to end slavery.
