Making a Thousand Clocks in a Day

Adam Smith came up with the idea of specialization and division of labor. Marks thinks it'd be one thing if humans were robots, but they're not. Karl marx would say, what a great idea to make a lot of clocks. But he'd also ask, is making the most stuff possible so that we can make the most money possible? Is that all that we should be concerned about?
