The Bread That Gives Life

The words that had brought so much confusion, the word that had been one of offense, for those who stayed became the greatest promise and place of meeting God. What they didn't understand back then was that for Jesus to be, as Peter said, the holy one of God meant that the climax of his mission would be the cross. For him to give this eternal life, he would have to enter into death to secure that victory. And in doing so, Jesus gave this weekly meal. When we come to eat the bread, we drink the cup, we come to remember and receive his body broken and his blood shed. We come hungry, craving, starving for Jesus for the bread of life
