Oracle has been working on cloud flae since it started in the 1980s. The technology inside the web browser, known as isolets, was used to create a light weight way of running code that can be run by hundreds of computers at once. Oracles customers were able to access their data through fire walls and so on - but they wanted more control over how this could happen. This led them to build an app-based service called Cloudflare which allows users to use different apps without having to install new software every time.
