Is This Really Gain of Function Work?
Gassie: Overall, this is not the most dangerous kind of what we call gain of function work or dual-use work. Gassie: The reason that there's controversy around the set of experiments isn't necessarily the content of the experiments as I said,. But it's more the fact that the Boston University researchers didn't necessarily realize what they were doing could be considered gain of function. They weren't conferring efficient human aerosol transmission on something that was super virulent.
