What Are the Three Main Types of Rocks?
Hendrata describes the three main types of rocks as soupy, volcanic and sedimentary. Rocks made from magma are called igneous rocks; they're often formed deep inside the earth. The second group of rocks is made up of little rock bits - these are called sediments. You'll sometimes find shells of ancient animals inside sedimentary rocks.
