The Stoics and the Cynics?

i wonder whether itis the stoics is this, is this an atheistic sort of philosophy, or is there reference to a providential god? Marcus aurelius famously writes multiple times what he calls either providence or atoms. Are we guided by a god? Is everything under his control? Or is it like some of the other thinkers thought, so many people to day, a matter of random chance of atoms.
