In 18 87, the us. Congress passed the dawes act, which effectively revoked the sovereign of all indian nations in their territory. The western area from what's now oklahoma city westward was split off into a so called ok Oklahoma territory in 18 90. But both of them now really are administered by the us. Federal government. And the land in these territories could then be sold off.
