Under New York law, it's actually a crime if a person makes or causes a false entry in the business records of an enterprise. That could include saying that you're paying your lawyer for legal expenses when you're really reimbursing him for the money he paid to a porn star to buy her silence when you ran for president. Trump would be accused of breaking New York criminal law, which would then be attached to hiding or committing federal criminal law violations.
