Is There a Radical Element in Early Christianity?
Christianity was encouraging the same kind of radical critique of earthly life that at least some philosophical traditions had been making for centuries. So not only cynicism but also stoicism to some extent even though they're materialists and the Platonists. Yes I find this whole question of how radical philosophy is vis-à-vis conventional values, the accepted ways of doing things really interesting.
