I wonder if there's something that distinguishes how you perceive questions of passive and active attention. Do you feel that actually their concepts of attention are absolutely wedded together? I think you're right in pointing out that there is this dual element of attention, there is something active about it and something passive about it. And these two elements have to be held together when we're attending. So on the one hand, there is Eros, there is a straining towards something wanting to see wanting to know - which is more evident when we're actively paying attention. And I look at you, I listen to you, and we talk about active listening, but that’s this kind of attention
