The Evolution of Human Foot Flexibility
Human feet on average are relatively stiff, even on the lateral side. But you also find a large range of variation in studies of Nirang tanks and Benobos. The lowland gorilla turns out to have feet which are very much like our own infroportions. And what's interesting to me is the lowland gorilla happens to be the most arboreal tree dwelling of the Afrokinesps - we're an Afrokinepe. Our feet are still pretty much feet which are adapted to life in the trees.
