Police arrested Louis Bessemer for the brutal second-act man attack, which took place in New Orleans on June 28, 1918. Police were already investigating Bessemer after suspicious letters written in German, Russian, and Yiddish were found in a trunky-owned store. The presumed wife of Bessemer also claimed he was a German spy.
