The Role of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in Government

Schweitzer: I think one of the things that we do well and that you touch on this in the book is we talk about, hey, how come things never change? If everyone agrees that there's a problem, how come it doesn't get better? And so what we've tried to do is talk about, well, here's the question. Here's who makes money off the status quo. It's not an accident. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was set up through the Federal Reserve with no oversight or budgeting power. They don't have to listen to a subpoena. These print as much money as they want. So enormous problem.
