Ptolemy's Lighthouse

Ptolemy was the successor of Alexander the Great in Egypt following Alexander's death. Sostratos is listed as an architect or a builder or a financer, but I think it's probably the wrong way of looking at it. You have to think of it of Ptolemy as an autocrat, like a modern political autocrat like Putin and around him were wealthy people. So I think that Sstratos was he was able to profit from his relationship with PTolemy, but as payment he had to build something and obviously the lighthouse was the thing that he did.
