The American Politics Is Gentle

i'm almost positive it was not motivated by the fact that he was bothered by criticism personally. The things that people wrote about their opponents in newspapers in the 18th and 19th century would make facebook comments today look really civilized. We had a political culture built on this outrageous provocative speech tradition um you know going out and debating and there was no if you couldn't take it, i still feel that way. It's so unnatural and so obviously at odds with our traditions one way or another.
