Programming

Programmers have spent far too much time worrying about efficiency in the wrong places and at the wrong times. Premature optimization is the root of all evil, or at least most of it in programm. It makes a person feel like a real virtuoso to achieve something under such severe restrictions. When i learned programming, it was a popular pastime to do as much as possible with programmes that fit on only a single punched card. I suppose it's this same phenomenon that makes a p l enthusiasts relish their one liners.
