The Trap of XF
XF rejects illusion and melancholy as political inhibitors. This is a politics that in wanting so much ends up building so little without the labor of large scale collective social organization declaring one's desire for global change is nothing more than wishful thinking. On the other hand, melancholy so endemic to the left teaches us that emancipation is an extinct species to be wept over. It is against such melodies that XF inoculates boom. I feel like the second part is really kind of calling out people like Perry Anderson who is just really known for his kind of glacial despair of his writing. So yeah, it's pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will, but very little on the optimism
