How to Get Your Heart Rate Out of Carbs

Most of the time, apart from during very intense exercise, we need oxygen to unlock the energy in fats or carbs. The fuel molecule is broken down and this produces carbon dioxide and water as waste products. By measuring the amount of CO2 in my breath, Laura can get an estimate of which fuel my body is relying on. And that's because each one contains different numbers of carbon atoms and these react with oxygen in different proportions.
