Physicists have a reputation for swanning in and saying, ah, what you're doing doesn't look that hard. You should spend that much time trying to learn about other fields as well, if you think that you can contribute to them. That's one side of the coin. The other side is, nevertheless, we should try to have all sorts of interdisciplinary engagement. And that it consists both of individuals who can talk more than one disciplinary language, and also actual interactions between people from different disciplines talking to each other.
Welcome to the August 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic.
