The History of the Ohio River
The Ohio River is 981 miles long and connects Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Cairo, Illinois where it meets the Mississippi River. The river was once too shallow for most boats, especially big boats like the Virginia. A tugboat named Volcano had to be summoned to free the boat from a bend in the river.
