Teaching English With the British Council - Episode Three
As a second language learner, I found this to be very true. There are topics maybe that I am more, or maybe I shy away from speaking about in my native tongue but I'm more comfortable speaking about it in English. So for example, I would say things like maybe LGBTQ rights. In Arabic, we only have one word and so while LGBTQ stands for different categories. That dynamic between language, culture and social norms, and religious barriers is very transparent in language. And I think teachers can bring that out in classes as well.
