This really is an unprecedented bad time to be in academ relative to other professions. These bloated administrations are just looking for ways to exploit academics. Alternative: It's a little worse than normal because of covid and the job market, but it's not dramatic. And if you're talented and you work hard, there's still hope for youA third one is, yes, it's hard. All jobs are hird now, right? But the people who go into academia this generation, i don't know, 24 o 35, somewhere in that range, are just kind of breathtakingly entitled.
