The Importance of Rest Days

I think sometimes early in your travel career, you just want to go, go, go because you feel like you have to cram everything in. Some of my favorite days in retrospect have been those rest days when I'm in the U.N. Tom mountains and I'm just sitting in the sun reading a book. And some days I would just call for a rest day and my friends would look at me like, thank God someone said it. That's a good point. So I guess what is the argument for the rest day? Like if you have 18 days planned in the Himalayas, how do you tell people before the trip that you need to plan two to three of those
