The Supermassive Black Hole and the Virgo Cluster

Supermassive black holes are so bright in the radio part of the spectrum that you can actually pick up the signal with the individual dishes themselves. This is very closely related to what we call very long baseline interferometry, where basically you have an array of telescopes set up wherever you have them set up. And they're simultaneously right ignoring that we can't really do simultaneous and different locations for different observersright ignoring that relativity technicality. You make simultaneous observations of the same object from different locations, and you get the resolution of the distance between the telescopes.
